During the period of Medieval in South Bengal the root of Islam were started spreading.During that period South Bengal was cover the large area of the Sundarban and there was a large numbers of tiger, crocodiles and different types of snakes making the region most inhospitable of the world. During this period there was several pirs took up the charge of spreading the Islam in this region of harmful creature. According to legends these pirs have the magical powers to communicate with the spirits of the harmful jungle. The pirs protected the honey hunters and wood cutters from there special spiritual power, when they do there business inside the forest to earn there lively hood. Although the followers of Islam most of this Pirs were secular in nature and people of different religion gave respect to them. Among the Pirs, Pir Mobarak Gaji was one of them whose Majar at Ghutiri Sharif where thousands of people visited from different faith. Raja Madan Roy was the Hindu King of Rajpur who saported the pir, who is popularly known as Gaji Baba Pir Mobarak Gaji. In Bansra region several acres of land donated to Gaji Baba by the King. In Bansara region the grave of Pir Mobarak Gaji is located and in the year 1936 it was renamed as Ghutiri Sharif by Fazrul Haq. now on the sealdha-canning rail head 32km from Kolkata Ghutiri Sharif is situated. Majar Sharif of Pir mobarak Gaji lies just next to the station and is come by a narrow lane. We noticed some shop seller to the narrow lane selling different variety of colourful chadars(clothes) with Arabic inscription. They sell attar(perfume), different objects of worship and calligraphy of inscription from Koran. The view of the white dove of the Majar Sharif, we saw them crowded near the grave of the Pir. Containing a small Mosque in the complex there is several structure of other religions and wakf board office who is responsible for the maintenance of the structure. The circular pond is the main attraction of the complex known as Mocca Pukur. Women make there wish from different ghats of the circular pond by dipping theres palms in to the water. A wish made out of the heart is bound to come true, accordingly this custom is followed by Muslim as well as Hindu women. The celebration of the Urs of Gaji Baba is held on 17 shraban according to the Bengali calender. In this occasion lakhs of people came to Ghutiri Sharif to celebrate the death anniversary of there Pir from all faiths. To accommodate the thousand of pilgrims on the time of the Urs, the Indian Railway runs special trains. And the thousands of pilgrims from all faiths pay homage to Pir Mobarak Gaji from the overcrowded narrow lane.
